’Tis the favorite time of year for our cats as we hand out turkeys and game hens as a special holiday treat! Thank you to everybody who purchased a treat for our cats online and in our gift shop after a tour of the sanctuary. Watch as Scott Lope our Operations Director hands out the birds to cats of all sizes and listen to them chomping down on the bones and devouring them completely!     @ayesha080 First and foremost it’s cruel and unnecessary, also feeding 130 cats live prey everyday would require a huge amount of space for the prey and time to hand it out. Then there’s always the risk that the big cat could get injured (beak or claw in their eye etc..) We do feed live prey to our rehab bobcats that will be released back into the wild so they need to learn how to hunt :)

    @BigCatRescue …That is wrong…you cannot play God. In the wild that Turkey has SOME chance of escaping. I like what you do overall but…

    He’s just a lion! :) Lions are more crabby and difficult to work with, he was just letting everybody know he’s the boss as usual!

    Nope, we don’t feed out live prey, unless we are feeding a rehab bobcat that will later be released into the wild.

    That was Simba the female tiger in the pride, she got her own turkey though, down at the opposite end of the enclosure!

    Those 2 actually came there together when they were rescued, so they’re used to each other.
